Bhubaneswar, Jul 26:
Most parts of Odisha would experience widespread rainfall under the influence of a Depression in the Bay of Bengal, said the local Met office release here today.
According to the release, a low pressure area formed over northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal on Saturday has now concentrated into a Depression over northeast Bay of Bengal and coastal areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal and lay centered at 8.30 AM today about 400 km east of Baleswar.
The system is likely to remain practically stationary and may concentrate into a Deep Depression during the next 48 hours. Under its influence, rain or thundershower would occur at many places over Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places over North Odisha during next 24 hours.
The Met office has warned fishermen in the North Odisha coast against venturing into sea and their counterparts on the South Odisha coast to be cautious while venturing into sea as gusty surface wind with speed reaching 45-50 kmph and gusting up to 60 kmph over North Odisha coast and 40-45 kmph over South Odisha coast would prevail along and off the coast which would make the condition rough to very rough.
Local cautionary signal number-Three (LC-III) has been hoisted at all ports in the state.
