Commissionerate police today claimed to have foiled a dacoity bid following the arrest of four criminals in Odisha capital.
Acting on reliable information, Kharavel Nagar police raided a place behind Text Book Printing Press Colony last night where around six-seven anti-socials were planning to commit a robbery in Satya Nagar area.
While four of them – including two from West Bengal – were apprehended, others manged to give police a slip taking advantage of the darkness.
The arrested have been identified as Seikh Alamin (29) from Moina village in West Medinapur in West Bengal, Seikh Alliajam Malik (25) of Panchkuda in West Medinapur in West Bengal, Seikh Mutalif (26) from Masjid Colony in Mali Sahi area under Kharavel Nagar police limits here, and Seikh Anwar Hussein (36) alias Bulu from Dumuduma area under Khandagiri police limits in the city.
A six bore countrymade revolver, a hand bomb, a chopper, torch, chilly powder and knife were seized from their possession.
A case was registered with Kharavel Nagar police station under Section 399,402 of IPC and 25, 35 of Arms Act and Section 9 (1-B) Indian Explosives Act. The accused were forwarded to court today.
