Dacoity averted in Odisha capital as looters fail to enter house

Bhubaneswar: A major dacoity was averted here as the looters failed to enter the house of a doctor even after breaking the grill and main door lock.

The looters had targeted the house number A-10, K-9 owned by Dr Amlan Keshari Mohanty at MIG Colony in Patrapada area, on outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Thursday midnight.

As per the complaint filed with Tamando police, a group of six looters entered the compound of the house jumping the entrance gate at around 3.15 am on Thursday midnight. They broke two CCTV cameras installed outside the house, broke the grill and door lock and tried to enter the house, but could not succeed as another grill inside the house protected it.

According to reports, Dr Mohanty runs a physiotherapy clinic. The looters might have broken the front grill, but they found another grill after breaking the door lock in the house. Even after several attempts were made by the looters till 4 am, they failed in their mission following which they went back with empty hands.

Although, the CCTV cameras were damaged, entire episode was recorded in the hard disk. The family came to know about the incident on Friday morning. The footage showed that the six were healthy; some of them were only in inner clothes. Dr Mohanty informed the police and handed over the CCTV footage.
