Koraput, Mar 25:

In an effort to reach out to the residents of Odisha’s backward Koraput district, understand their issues and establish a strong bond between the police and the tribals, the police administration organized a public relation camp at the Maoist infested Natayanpatna today.

A free health check up camp was organized on this occasion and the poor people were given household goods for free.

“This is a great experience. I am very happy. The officers are here and they are explaining to us how we can take advantage of government schemes,” said a participating man.

A similar camp was organized  at Lamtaput yesterday. Hundreds of tribals attended the camps along with top officials of administration such as South-West Range Police IG Yashwant Jethwa, BSF DIG Praveen Buxy, Koraput Collector Yamini Sarangi and the Koraput SP.

“The arrangements have been good. We are all trying to move together towards progress with unity,” said Sabina Dadingi, Sarpanch of Talagumundi.

They also explained to the locals the evil designs of Maoists and the welfare schemes of the government while urging them to join hands with the administration to achieve progress.  The officials were also seen listening to the complaints of the people and assuring them of solutions.

“We are going to strengthen development in this area by taking stringent action against the Maoists as per law and make this area free from Maoists. The situation has changed a lot. We will ensure it changes even more,” said Jethwa.

“We want to make people understand that we are here for them; to serve them and to ensure their safety,” said Buxy.

“Narayanpatna has scored good results in NREGA employment scheme and we have spent a good amount there recently as compared to the program records earlier,” said Yamini Sarangi, Collector of Koraput.
