Bhubaneswar, Nov 27:
Congress and five Left parties will take out separate rallies across Odisha tomorrow in protest against Centre’s demonetization move.
The protesters will hold demonstrations in front of RBI office here and SBI branches.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan had earlier announced that the Grand Old party would hold ‘Jana Akrosh’ rallies across the state.
“This is an undeclared financial emergency. We are going to hold protests in all blocks and district headquarters tomorrow,” OPCC chief Prasad Harichandan said.
While Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) has called for the protests, SP, BSP, RJD, and DMK had accorded their agreement to join hands in protest.
Notably, BJD and JD (U) would stay away from the protests as they had earlier supported the demonetization move.
Similarly, members of CPI, CPI-M, CPI-ML, SUCI and Forward Bloc would stage demonstrations in front of the RBI building here and SBI branches at all the district headquarters.
“We have decided to resort to civil disobedience in protest against the decision. Activists in thousands will be joining the movement,” Ali Kishore Patnaik, CPI (M) state secretary said.
