The State Congress on Saturday urged the State Election Commission (SEC) to take action against the ruling BJD government for violating the model code of conduct for the urban local body (ULB) elections scheduled on September 19.

“The BJD MLAs and ministers have raised slogans against the leaders of the UPA government by assembling in the public places”, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Jayadev Jena told reporters here after a nine-member PCC delegation led by him submitted a memorandum to the SEC here.

He also accused the steel and mines minister Rajanikant Singh of violating the code of conduct by issuing a fax message containing the list of BJD candidates for the ULB polls to the office of the Angul district collector from his office fax number.
