To check organized crimes like illegal gun trading, gang war and extortion more effectively, the commissionerate police on Wednesday formed a specialized unit called the Quick Action Force Team (QAFT).
The specialized force which will consist of 13 police officials will work under the direct supervision of the twin city Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma.
“At present, we have a special squad that investigates organized crimes. The newsly formed QAFT will also work in tandem with them ,” Sharma said .
According to official sources, the QAFT will he headed by an ACP rank officer along with one inspector, a sub-inspector, an assistant sub-inspector and 9 constables.

QAFT will tackle gangsters and their gang members operating in the Twin City. The team will work in tandem with the other special squads in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. A special drive will be launched and preventive laws under Criminal Procedure Code as well as National Security Act will be used against gangsters and habitual offenders, sources added.
