Kandhamal: Entire Odisha shivered in cold with the mercury dropped below 9 in interior parts of the state on Sunday night.

The temperature of Kandhamal, which is known as Kashmir of Odisha, recorded 8 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature was 7 degree Celsius.

The cold wave halted the normal life in the district where people were found sitting near fire in the morning. The vehicular movement was also affected due to dense fog across the tribal district.

On the other hand, tourists from across the country, state and overseas flocked Kandhamal to enjoy winter.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar MeT predicted moderate to heavy rains at least in 18 districts from December 7 till 10 due to low pressure formed over north Sumatra coast and adjoining south Andaman sea. It is likely to become a depression over south-east Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood during next 12 hours.
