Puri: In view of inconveniences occurred due to coconut water in the ongoing Jagamohan work at Srimandir, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) imposed ban on breaking of coconuts on premises of Jagamohan.

The temple administration has issued a notice in this regard to all the Nijogas of the centuries old shrine warning that stern action will be taken if found in breaking the coconuts inside Jagamohan from today.

All the Nijogas have welcomed the decision saying the servitors will cooperate the temple administration.

Earlier, the coconuts were broken at Jagamohan as part of an offering to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. Several problems were occurring disrupting the ongoing Jagamohan repair work due to coconut water found blocked in the area.

However, the coconuts can be offered to the deities by breaking it in other areas on premises of the temple.
