Coastal Odisha likely to experience rains today

The cyclonic circulation formed over the east-central Bay of Bengal will intensify into low pressure in the next 24 hours and under its influence coastal parts of Odisha is likely to experience Nor’wester induced rains today and Saturday, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre here.

According to the weatherman, after formation of low-pressure today, it is likely to intensify into depression towards Sunday. After intensifying into depression it will move in the north-easterly direction towards Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Though the possibility of its impact on Odisha is less, it’s likely to cause rains accompanied by thunder squalls in some places in coastal Odisha today and tomorrow in the afternoon, the Met department said in its forecast.

Under its influence, with wind speed remaining little higher there is a likelihood of a little fall in the temperature.

On the other hand, there would be no change in temperature in western and interior parts of the state.

On Thursday, Titlagarh recorded the highest temperature of 43.3 degrees Celcius followed by Bolangir which recorded 42.8 degrees,  Malkangiri and Bhawanipatna 42.2 degrees, Jharsuguda  41.8 degrees, Sambalpur and Hirakud 41.7 degrees, Angul 41.5 degrees, Talcher 40.6 degrees, Sonepur 40.2 degrees, Cuttack  36.8 degrees and Bhubaneswar 36.4 degrees.
