Civil society organisations stage rail roko in Odisha’s Kantabanji

Civil society organisation ‘Right to Fight’ today staged a Rail Roko in Odisha’s Kantabanji station demanding a rail wagon factory to be set up in the district.

The activists, supported by many other associations including the local traders’ body, sat on the tracks disrupting train services on the route. Puri-Ahemadbad express was stuck at the station for over two hours.

“We have close to 70 acres of land is lying unused here. Railway can use that land to set up the wagon factory. We have been demanding for this factory since long and would intensify our protests if the government fails to fulfil our demands,” said an agitator.

The agitators, however, cleared the track after government officials met them and assured that their concern would be forwarded to the concerned authorities.
