Bhubaneswar, Aug 25:
Journalists of Bhubaneswar, their mouths sealed with black cloth, staged a silent protest against the brutal gangrape of a 23-year-old photojournalist in Mumbai and marched in a procession from Exhibition Ground to Ram Mandir square here on Sunday demanding strict action against the culprits.
The journalists later presented a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir seeking his intervention to provide a safer workplace for journalists in the State as well as in the country.
They demanded that the culprits responsible for the heinous crime against the photojournalist in Mumbai be given exemplary punishment within a specified time frame.
Journalists from both the print and electronic media participated in the protest.
