Bhubaneswar, May 26:
With two Odisha leaders all set to become ministers in the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, it is celebration time for the state BJP headquarters here.
While Jual Oram, the lone BJP MP from Odisha will get a cabinet berth, the national general secretary and Rajya Sabha member from Bihar Dharmendra Pradhan will be inducted as minister of state with independent charge in the Narendra Modi government, that will take oath of office and secrecy at the Rashtrapati Bhawan at 6pm today.
The party leaders say the induction of two leaders in the ministry will lift the spirit of the party cadres who are now a demoralised lot, following the party’s poor show in the state. They also hope, the charged up workers will help galvanise the party organisation across Odisha and take on the might of the 14-year old Naveen Patnaik government.
“I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to Mr Modi for inducting two leaders of the state in his ministry. It will definitely strengthen the party in the state. As a minister at the Centre, I will work for the development of my country as well as my state ,” said a beaming Oram to media persons in Delhi.
Pradhan also thanked Modi for giving him an opportunity to serve the nation and said he will work both for the country and his party with utmost dedication.
Since Assembly election is Bihar is scheduled to be held in 2015, Pradhan’s ministerial status will boost the morale of the party and set its eyes on capturing power in the state. As the party Pravari for Bihar he has had a big role in the astounding success that the party achieved in the Lok Sabha polls in Bihar where the ruling JD (U) has almost been decimated.
The party believes Pradhan will now play a decisive role in the BJP organisation in eastern India, more particularly Bihar and Odisha.
