Bhubaneswar, Aug 20:
An inability to resist his temptation to talk to his sweetheart over phone sealed the fate of Satyam Sekhar Raula, the so-called son of the godman Sarathi Baba, who was arrested by the Odisha Crime Branch police on Wednesday.
The Crime Branch police were on the hunt for Satyam, who had gone underground on August 6, a day before the arrest of Sarathi Baba.
After leaving Odisha, Satyam was in constant touch with his girlfriend in Cuttack over his mobile phone.
But as the 20-year-old youth later switched off his mobile phone, it was difficult for the Crime Branch to trace his whereabouts.
However, the state investigating agency, in the course of its investigation, got the information on Satyam’s girlfriend. From there on, it did not take long for the agency to trace his whereabouts. While tracking her phone, the Crime Branch sleuths came to know that Satyam used to talk to his girlfriend from a landline phone. But as he frequently changed his place of stay, there was a delay in nabbing him.
Things became easier after the Crime Branch seized his bank accounts and deactivated his ATM card. As a result, Satyam could not change his place and was finally caught.
The Crime Branch, however, is yet to reveal the identity of the girlfriend and her whereabouts in Cuttack.
