One person was charred to death after a fire hit the daily market at the district headquarter town of Bhawanipatna in Odisha’s Kalahandi district this morning.
Following information, a fire brigade team rushed to the spot to douse the fire which was controlled after an hour, reports said.
The dead has been identified as Srimaan Naik, a worker who was working in a godown located inside the market.
Preliminary reports said a compressor of a deep freezer kept in the godown burst, leading to the fire which again led to explosion of an LPG cylinder used for cooking purpose that was kept in a shop adjacent to the godown. This contributed to the blaze that speead fast.
Sources said the worker who was inside the godown could not come out as fire and smoke engulfed the entire area. By the time he was rescued, his body was badly burnt. He was rushed to the district head quarters hospital where he was declared brought dead.
