Bhubaneswar, May 8:
The Odisha government has decided to publish a book in Odia on the formation of the Odisha state on linguistic basis.
A preparatory meeting of the editorial board for the publication of Vol-2 titled ‘Bhasa Bhittika Swatantra Odisha Pradesh Gathana’ pertaining to 1903-47 was held today under the chairmanship of Director, Culture Sushil Kumar Das.
Das emphasized on the preparation of a factually correct script for early publication by state archives.
Prof Dr Atul Pradhan, Dr Kohesh Prasad Dash, Prof Raj Kishore Mishra and Dr Sakuntala Baliyarsingh are the members of editorial board which will prepare the contents of the book after collecting facts and figures from various archives.
Culture Department deputy director Bhabani Prasad Ray, the Superintendent-in-charge of the State Archives, who is coordinating the publication work sought the co-operation of the editorial experts, staff and the government printing press.
The government has published several books relating to Odisha’s history including Guide to Odishan Records vol-I to vol-VII, Reflections on the National Movement in Odisha, An approach to some aspects of Subash Ch. Bose, Towards Merger: Integration of Princely States of Odisha, Role of women of Odisha in the freedom struggle, Madhu Babu and Odisha in the Making, Charles Grome’s Report on the Temple Jagannath 10 June, 1805, George Webb’s Report on the Temple of Jagannath 19 December, 1807, Freedom Struggle in Odisha vol-I and vol-II, Bhasa Bhittika Swatantra Odisha Pradesh Gathana vol-I, Part-I & Part-II.
