Bombs hurled at BJP office in Odisha capital, 2 arrested

Bhubaneswar: Two persons were arrested for allegedly hurling bombs at the BJP state headquarters here this evening. No one is injured in the explosion.

The arrested persons were identified as Pinak Mohanty and Biswajit Mallick. Pinak, a resident of Barang on the city outskirts, was also arrested in November last year for barging into party office and terrorising Panda holding toy guns.

According to reports, the two youths tried to barge into the party office. When the security guard engaged at the office stopped them, a heated argument ensued between the three. Following this, the miscreants threw bombs and immediately fled the office premises.

On being informed, Kharvel Nagar police rushed to the spot and started investigation into the incident on the basis of the security guard’s input.

The reason behind the bomb explosion is yet to be ascertained, police sources said.
