The mortal remains of veteran Congress leader, former MP and minister Sriballav Panigrahi arrived at the Odisha capital this morning.
According to reports, the body of Panigrahi arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport from Bengaluru in the morning. Several senior Congress leaders and workers were present at the airport to have their glimpse of the departed soul.
The body was later taken to the Congress Bhawan the party workers paid floral tribute.
As decided, the body would be taken to the office of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) from where it would be taken to Sambalpur where the last rites of Panigrahi would be performed.
Panigrahi, who passed away in a private hospital in Bengaluru on Thursday morning, is survived by his wife Sunanda Panigrahi and two sons.
He was elected as a Member of Odisha Assembly in 1971 and 1974 from Sambalpur Assembly constituency.
He was the youngest cabinet minister at the age of 33 during the chief ministership of Nandini Satpathy.
He was also elected as the Member of Parliament from Deogarh Lok Sabha constituency in 1984, 1991 and 1996.
