Bhubaneswar, Aug 22:
The BJP today came down heavily on the Odisha government for what it called its ‘politics on Central apathy’ to the state.
Briefing newsmen here, BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra said the Centre has sanctioned Rs 7,772 crore in 2015-16 fiscal, which is 43 percent more than the allocation in the previous year.
“Though the state government is aware of this, it is deliberately harping on the Central apathy issue only to cover up its failure. The figures speak for themselves. But if the state government still alleges Central apathy, we have nothing to say on this,” he said.
Referring to the issue on former DGP Prakash Mishra, the BJP leader said the hounding of an honest and upright officer by the state government has been thoroughly exposed by the Odisha High Court and the Supreme Court in their recent verdicts.
To a question on former Kendrapara SP Satish Gajbhiye, Mohapatra said his party has decided to gherao Gop block office in Puri district on August 24 against the fraudulent possession of private and government land in collusion with the district administration.
Refuting Mohapatra’s allegation, BJD leader Sashi Bhusan Behera said since Prakash Mishra’s case is a legal matter, the state government has made its stand clear on this issue and there is no question about the state government getting entangled on this issue.
“Since the state government is committed to solve the problems of the people, it is ready to face any issue in this regard in the State Assembly,” he said.
Pointing his finger at the BJP leader, Behera said the former is trying to fish in troubled waters, but the attempt will not succeed.
