In its complaint, the BJP has accused the Collector of Jajpur district of  openly supporting and promoting the BJD candidate Pranab Balbantaray, son of BJD vice-president and Panchayati Raj minister Kalpataru Das in gross violation of the model code of conduct and Election Commission’s guidelines for the General Election -2014.

“The Collector and District Magistrate of Jajpur Anil Samal is moving in open support of ruling Party’s candidate Pranab Balbantaray, who is contesting from Dharmasala constituency. He also taking part in the day to day activities of the candidate,” said BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma in a letter to CEO.

The party alleged that the Collector plans and chalks out Pranab’s election campaign and directs all school teachers, Anganwadi workers and block office staff to canvass for him .

“There are several instances of allegations coming up regarding collection and mobilisation of funds from the rich industrialists of the industrial belt of Jajpur district. He ( the collector) reports to the minister regarding the updates on the electioneering of various BJD candidates in his districts,” said Sharma.

The party also demanded  close surveillance of his movements and activities along with the call records of his cell phone after the announcement of the poll dates and claimed the records  will reveal serious proof regarding the gross violation of the poll code by the district collector.
