Jajpur, Aug 16 :
Jan Sampark Abhijan Rath of the Odisha Jan Morcha as well as some leaders of the new regional outfit were allegedly attacked by BJD workers at Mangalpur in Jajpur district on Friday.
Local reports say a large group of BJD workers led by a local BJD Samiti member stormed into a street corner meeting organised by the OJM in Mangalpur.
The BJD workers allegedly roughed up OJM leader Mihir Mohanty who was addressing the meeting and snatched the microphone from him. The mob allegedly told the OJM leaders that any meeting that targets the Naveen Patnaik government will never be allowed in the ‘BJD fortress’ held by the local ruling party MLA, Pramila Mallik.
General secretaries of the OJM, Seshadev Patra and Nandakishore Samal were allegedly roughed up by the local BJD workers who also damaged the Jan Sampark Abhijan Rath and tore the OJM banners put up at the venue of the meeting.
OJM sources also alleged the police remained a mute spectator during the entire episode.
Both sides have lodged complaints against each other at the Mangalpur Police Station.
