Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Jayadev Jena on Friday accused the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) of always getting votes at ‘gunpoint’.
Talking to media persons here on Friday, Jena cited Thursday’s incident of firing on the son of a woman Congress councillor candidate in Puri as an example of how BJD is always after getting votes at gunpoint.
He alleged that the ruling party is trying to bag the urban local body (ULB) votes in its favour forcibly all over the State.
He accused the BJD of misusing the Government machinery and terrorising Congress workers in Puri, Chikiti, Jajpur and many other places in the State. “A fact-finding team has been formed to investigate the Puri firing incident,” Jena said.
