Bhubaneswar, Apr 9:
The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has dubbed the BJP’s allegation that a senior officer in the Odisha Chief Minister’s office was acting as a ‘BJD general secretary’ as a ‘sign of frustration’.
In a press release issued here this evening, BJD vice president Kalpataru Das levelled a counter-charge against the BJP saying; “The whole country knows as to how the entire Gujarat administration is working towards making Modi the Prime Minister.”
The party said the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had already visited the state four times, but had failed to sway the people here. Accusing the BJP of spending money ’like water’ throughout the country and also in Odisha to influence voters and buy votes, the BJD said; “But the people of Odisha are bent upon to vote (sic) to vote for BJD,”
Terming the BJP’s allegation about the involvement of the CEO’s office in extending support to the BJD as ‘more unfortunate’ (sic), the BJD vice president said the party was in the habit of making false allegations.
“We are sure the people of Odisha will see through these baseless allegations and reject the same as they have absolute faith in the leadership of Naveen Patnaik,” the release said.
Earlier in the day, the BJP had lodged a complaint with the Election Commission accusing the Chief Minister’s private secretary of direct and active involvement in the BJD campaign. It had also alleged that even the CEO’s office was not immune to the orders of this officer.
