In an effort to promote the culture of Odisha, the Culture and Tourism department has decided to organise seminars, workshops and song and dance programmes in several districts of the state.
In the first phase, the department has planned such programmes at Baripada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kendujhar and Koraput districts.
A preparatory meeting on organizing the programmes was held under the chairmanship of Culture and Tourism secretary Arabinda Kumar Padhi at Tourism conference hall here today. The meeting was attended by Tom Gravelli from the Norway Embassy, Sushil Das, Director Culture, Manoranjan Patnaik, Director, Tourism, among others.
The meeting also took a decision to organise rural based cultural exchange programme at Bhubaneswar in the next phase.
A management committee has been formed by Padhi for the smooth management of these programmes.
Culture and Tourism Directors, Sarba Sikhya Abhiyan Project Director and Speakmake Odisha chief are the members and Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy Secretary will act as the convener of the committee.
Vice Chancellor, Utkal Sanskrit University has been entrusted with the management of the seminars and workshops. Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya principal will assist him, sources said.
