Noted Odia novelist Bibhuti Patnaik was conferred the Atibadi Jagannath Das Samman by Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Panda in Odisha capital today.
Patnaik, a household name in Odisha, has written over 50 novels and has received several other prestigious awards including Kendriya Sahitya Akademi Award, Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award, Odisha Living Legend Award, Sarala Award among others.
Some of his best known books include Aswamedhara Ghoda, Sesha Basanta, Abhimana, Trutiya Purusha, Badhu Nirupama, Prathama Sakala and Sesha Ratira Surya.
Given by Odisha Sahitya Akademy to a litterateur for lifetime contribution to Odia literature, Atibadi Jagannath Das Samman is the highest honour by the Akademy.
The award is named after 15th century Odia poet Atibadi Jagannath Das and is being given since in 1993.
