Bhubaneswar, Aug 6; Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) today inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ahmadabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) for implementation of a town planning scheme (TPS) in the state.
The MoU was signed between planning member, BDA Dr Pitabasa Sahoo and deputy town development officer of AMC Vatsal Patel in the presence of Housing &Urban Development Minister Debiprasad Mishra here today.
Under TPS, private land would be taken over from owners, pooled together and a part of it would be used for roads and civic amenities. The unused land would be returned to owners, who stand to gain due to value addition through amenities like water supply, sewerage, parking lots, electricity and roads.
As a pilot project, 1200 acres of land from Mouza Madanpur and Jagsara will be taken up under the town planning scheme.
The prime objective of the move is planned development of urban expansion leading to organized growth. It involves compulsory acquisition of peripheral private land. The land would be taken over in an organized way since the process so far has been difficult, time-consuming and has often led to litigation.
