Angul: Normal life was affected in Odisha’s Angul district today due to a 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the Zilla Janabibana Suraksha Committee demanding fulfilment of four-point charter of demands including upgradation of the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) into a super specialty hospital and medical college.

The other demands of the committee include operation of the Medical College & Hospital at Talcher from this year, shifting of a poultry farm adjacent to the DHH, filling up of doctor and nurse posts lying vacant in Talcher, Pallahara and Athamallik Sub-Divisional Hospitals and 24-hour healthcare facility in the district.

Vehicular movement was severely hit in Angul town as the bandh supporters staged road blockade at various junctions. Schools, colleges and shops also remained closed in view of the bandh in Hulurisingha, Mahidharpur and Athamallik areas.
