Jeypore (Koraput), May 19:
Five accused, involved in the brutal assault on two close relatives of the senior Congress leader and the newly elected MLA of Jeypore Tara Prasad Bahinipati, surrendered before the court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) at Jeypore in Odisha’s Koraput district this morning.
According to reports, the five accused—Chiranjibi Patnaik, Sanjay Suna, Hrudananda Nayak, Bapi Parida and Rajendra Sahu— surrendered before JMFC Sudhir Kumar Mishra in the morning today.
The court later remanded the surrendered accused to judicial custody till the next hearing.
It may be mentioned here that seven youths had launched a murderous assault on Tara Prasad’s brother Tuna Bahinipati and nephew Gupta Prasad Mohapatra inside room no-217 of Hotel Madhumati past midnight on April 10 after the conclusion of the first-phase elections.
