Bhubaneswar, Oct 21:
US national William Michel Hurtubise (27) whose bail plea was rejected on September 27 by a local court here, had a sigh of relief on Monday after the Sessions Court granted him conditional bail against a surety deposit of Rs 50,000.
William was arrested on September 18 by the commissionerate police on charges of illegal possession of eight live bullets in his luggage during a routine check at the Biju Patnaik Airport.
William was released on Monday evening from the Jharpada Special Jail following the court order. However, he does not have the permission to leave the state or India until he is finally cleared of all the charges..
The Sessions court hearing the bail application of William granted him conditional bail on Rs 50,000 surety deposit and directed him to surrender his passport and visa to the SDJM court.
“The court granted bail to William subject to the condition that he would continue to appear before the court till the trial is over,” said his counsel Raj Kishore Das.
The case is still under investigation and we will file a fresh petition with the court after due consultations with William, Das added.
