Another Maoist was killed today in a gun battle with joint security forces in the ongoing combing operation in Chandiposh forest near Rourkela,Odisha.
In exchange of fire between Maoists and joint forces of Odisha police, SOG and CRPF, two naxals have been killed till now. One of the red rebels was killed yesterday, and two guns each were recovered from them.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the allied forces of state police, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had started combing operations 2 days ago. They have busted a naxal camp, from where a large cache of arms and supplies have recovered from the camp in Daldali hills.
According to reports, around 20 Maoists belonging to Anmol camp have been camping in the Daldali hills. Anmol is the zonal head of Maoists in Sambalpur, Bargarh, Kuchinda, Deogarh areas. Rourkela SP and CRPF Commandant have reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
“The operation was launched by Odisha police jointly with CRPF on 10. 11. 2015. The operation was conducted by 3 units of SOG, 1 unit of CRPF and District Voluntry Force (DVF). Two maoists were killed, one a top ranking naxal, called Sangram, along with substantial arms and ammunination, including four 3o4 rifles , 284 rounds of bullets, four grenades , geletine sticks, Maoist literature and camping materials were seized”, said K B Singh, Odisha DGP .
One of the killed Maoist has been identified as 35 year-old Sangram,was Saranda sub zonal committee member operating in Jharkhand . The red rebels were planning to launch attacks during forthcoming Jharkand panchayat elections, said Singh.
