Bhubaneswar, Feb 25:
The Election Commission today allotted the pot (mathia) symbol to Ama Odisha Party, Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, the party’s president told OST.
Patnaik said the symbol was allotted after Ama Odisha was recognised as a political party by the Election Commission.
Meanwhile, Patnaik met BJP in-charge for Odisha Chandan Mitra here today fuelling speculation about a possible seat sharing arrangement between the two parties for the coming elections.
Asked about such a possibility, Patnaik who is also the editor of ‘Sambad’ said it was a ‘courtesy’ call.
“It is not the first time I have met Chandan Mitra. Since we are a new party, the BJP wants to know how many seats we propose to contest in the elections. The talks were of a general nature ,” he told OST.
