Bhubaneswar, Mar 6:
After the huge success of Raahgiri day in Bhubaneswar, Odisha’s Puri celebrated the vehicle free day today on VIP road of the town between 6AM till 9 AM.
The stretch between Netaji Subhas Bose square till PKDA office had been chosen as the venue for the event. Thousands of enthusiastic denizens and tourists across all age groups thronged the VIP road of the holy town to enjoy various activities on a vehicle free road.
Yoga, music and dance performances were the main draw of the three hour long event. There were many seen performing cycle stunts, gymnastics and various types of physical activities while others were simply enjoying a free walk on an otherwise busy road.
“This has always been a busy stretch. It is incredible to see the road so free today. There are so many people walking along as if it is a wide jogger’s lane of a park. Besides, there are so many activities happening here. This is a great idea to bring the people of the town together while reducing pollution,” said Neelima Sarkar, a tourist turned resident of Puri.
Quite like Bhubaneswar, Puri Municipality also plans to make Raahgiri day a weekly affair in Puri, said Puri Municipality authorities.
