Addressing public grievances top priority, CM tells Odisha officials

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, May 21:

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday asked district collectors and SPs to lay special emphasis on addressing public grievances, which he said was the topmost priority of the government.

Expressing his displeasure over some SPs not participating in joint grievance hearings regularly, the Chief Minister warned that stern action will be taken if such instances of negligence come to notice in future.

In a review meeting with SPs and collectors of districts on joint grievance hearings held through video conferencing. Patnaik informed that he would review the monthly joint grievance hearings conducted by the collectors and SPs.

The Chief Minister advised the SPs to take stringent action against tender mafia and give special attention to expeditious trial in cases of rapes and heinous crimes against women.

Patnaik asked SPs to provide necessary facilities and assistance to complainants visiting police stations. He asked them to initiate exemplary action against erring officials involved in graft cases and harassing of complainants.
