Additional Rs 300 for pensioners in flood-hit districts

Bhubaneswar, Oct 26: In order to ease out the problems of old people affected by the cyclone and subsequent floods in the state, chief minister Naveen Patnaik today announced an additional pension of Rs 300 to beneficiaries in the flood affected districts.

“Pension holders in all affected districts will be given one month additional pension of Rs 300 during distribution of pension in November. Pensioners under all schemes will be covered under this,” Patnaik told reporters here.

About 21 lakh pension holders who are basically old age persons, differently abled, widows and destitute will benefit following the announcement.

Besides, the government has decided to provide relief materials in flood affected districts for three more days with the rain god continuing to lash the state.
