Malkangiri, Aug 16:
Malkangiri police have busted a major inter-state gang of ATM looters after arresting nine members of the gang, including the alleged kingpin Haridas Biswas.
Rs 1.35 crore in cash, over 50 ATM cards, 50 SIM cards, cheque books and laptops have been seized from them, police said.
“While Biswas, the kingpin of the racket, was arrested in New Delhi, the other eight were arrested in Malkagiri,” inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Kalimela police station Rajkishore Das said today.
A police team has been sent to the national capital to nab some more members of the gang. “We hope to get more information from them,” Das said.
The gang with more than 50 members was active in 15 districts of the state, including Malkangiri, besides other states, police sources said. The arrested gang members have confessed to looting over Rs 10 crore, the sources said adding the actual amount could be much higher than this.
