Dr Sasmit Patra was unanimously appointed President of the 170 year old Christian Seminary and Theological institution in Odisha after an emergency meeting of the governing board of the United Theological School, Cuttack on Saturday morning, a press release by Reverend Pradeep Mishra, principal-cum-secretary of the School said.
Established in 1845, this rich and prestigious institution, which provides education in Christian theology, is the oldest seminary of Odisha, was earlier being led by Dr Sasmit’s father Dr.Swarupananda Patra as its president before his sad demise on July 6, 2014.
Thanking the governing board members of the United Theological School, the newly appointed president Dr Sasmit Patra sought cooperation from all while taking up this responsibility.
“Though young of age, I seek the prayers, guidance and blessings of all the elder Christian leaders on the governing board of the Theological School and from across the churches of Odisha; and seek their cooperation and support in continuing the rich legacy of developing this 170 year Christian seminary which would build pastors and Christian leaders for the spiritual development of Christian society in Odisha and beyond,” Dr Patra said.
