Bhubaneswar, May 24:
Five persons, including a woman, were badly injured when the Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Intercity Express (18106) hit the car in which they were travelling at an unmanned level crossing near Cuttack this afternoon.
Though the identites of four of the injured is not yet established, the woman was identified as Subashini Tripathy. All five were rushed to SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack after the accident.
Inspector-in-charge of Bhubaneswar RPF S K Swain informed that the accident occurred at around 2.25 pm today when the car bearing registration number- OR 19 J 7979 with five persons inside it collided withthe Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Intercity express in between Naraj Marthapur and Ghantikhala Nidhipur railways station.
The car got completely damaged in the accident, the RPF IIC said. All injured were rushed to the SCB hospital for treatment by the RPF personnel, who reached the spot after getting information from the locals.
The train was detained for half an hour following the accident.
Later, Railway officials, along with police personnel from Cuttack, reached the spot to investigate the matter.
Meanwhile GRP Cuttack has registered a case into the matter.
