Commissionerate police on Wednesday arrested four local youths from Laxmisagar for their involvement in the murder of second year M Pharma student Manmohan Pradhan near Chintamanishwar temple under Laxmisagar police limits on Monday. They were forwarded to court today, police said.
The four youths arrested today had been detained yesterday on suspicion of their involvement in the case.
The accused have been identified as Kamal Chandra Rout (26) alias Tutu and Muna Rout (23) of Routsahi in Laxmisagar, Swadhin Swain (24) alias Bapuji of Uppersahi in Laxmisagar and Rajesh Bhadra (23) alias Gunu of Palasuni New Colony under Mancheswar police limits who is a native of Pahana in Kendrapara district, informed Inspector-in-charge of Laxmisagar Police station K C Mund.
Police sources said the prime accused in the case Vicky and three other co-accused were still absconding and efforts to nab them were on. A mobile SIM card found from the place of occurrence of the crime helped nab these culprits, police sources said.
Manmohan alias Muna, a student of Jaydev Pharmacy College, was chased and stabbed by a group of miscreants near the Fisheries Lane in Laxmisagar area on Monday evening over a dispute the latter had with his friend Laxmi Narayan Rout alias Lucky. Lucky had invited his friend Muna from his village to sort out a difference with one of the attackers.
After Muna was stabbed, Lucky had rushed him to the Capital Hospital on an auto rickshaw, but he was declared dead shortly after reaching the hospital.
