Jeypore , Dec 21:
One more mobile tower of a private company was burnt down by suspected Maoists, on Sunday, taking the number to three torched cell phone spires in Baipariguda area of Koraput district, Odisha in a week.
The under construction tower was set fire by suspected Maoists, at Chipakura panchyat under Baipariguda police limits of Koraput district late yesterday night.
Notably, two more mobile towers have been torched by the red rebels in different places in the area with a single week.
The miscreants find it easy to sneak out into Chhattisgarh as Baipariguda area is close to Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, hence making it difficult for the police to capture them.
On Saturday night, some miscreants set a mobile phone tower on fire at Kalia Atala under Baipariguda police limits. A poster was also found near the spot, which said that setting up of mobile towers is a waste of money.
On December 14, Maoists had torched a mobile phone tower operated by a private company at Kathapada, also in Baipariguda area. Thus, three mobile phone towers have been damaged within the past one week.
Naxalites are upset with the attempts by the government to bring connectivity to the remote area, according to police sources.
