Centre has approved 29 seats for admission into PG courses at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha.
The proposal by MCI recommending seat hike was sent to the Centre on March 20. The admission into the courses for new seats will be held from the academic session 2017-18.
As per a notification by the Centre, the seats were raised from 20 to 29 in MD General Medicine, from 5 to 6 in MD Respiratory Medicine, from 5 to 6 in MD DVL, from 19 to 24 in MS General Surgery, from 6 to 14 in MS Orthopedics, from 5 to 6 in MD Radio Diagnosis and from 6 to 9 in MS Ophthalmology departments of SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Besides, the seats were increased from 7 to 9 in MS Ophthalmology department of Berhampur medical college. The Centre also approved the proposal for hiking the seats from 6 to 9 in MD Pediatrics, from 13 to 18 in MS General Surgery, from 4 to 6 in MS Ophthalmology and from 4 to 5 in MD Respiratory Medicine department of Burla VIMSAR.
The PG seats have been increased in all the government medical colleges in 21 states including Odisha.
