Two CoBRA jawans injured in IED blast in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Two security personnel were injured in a blast near Jantapai village in Badapada panchayat under Chitrakonda block in Odisha’s Malkangiri district today.

The jawans belonging to CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) battalion of the CRPF were injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion during combing operations in that area.

The injured jawans have been rushed to the Primary Health Centre at Badapada.

Sources said they will be soon shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital here.

While one of them has been identified as N Jaga Rao, the other jawan was not identified at the time of filing of this report.

“The incident took place while security personnel were engaged in combing operations. The jawans were injured in an IED explosion,” informed Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Jagmohan Meena.

Combing operations have been intensified in the area, he added.
