Bhubaneswar: All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association (AOPBOA) today reiterated its threat to go on indefinite strike from November 1 after failing to get a definite assurance from the State government over its 11-point charter of demands.

The AOPBOA president Prakash Mishra made the announcement at a press conference after a meeting of its office-bearers here.

Earlier in the day, office bearers of the AOPBOA had meetings with the Chief Minister, Transport Minister, Chief Secretary and departmental Secretary and had presented them with their 11-point charter of demands.

“We had a detailed discussion among us. Since we didn’t get any definite assurance from the government on our demands we stick to our decision to go on strike from November 1,” informed AOPBOA president Prakash Mishra speaking to reporters at the press meet.

About 17,000 private buses plying in different towns and villages of the State will remain off the road from November 1, said AOPBOA spokesperson Debasish Nayak.

As many as 1,200 private buses will remain off the road from Baramunda bus stand alone, he added.
