Bhubaneswar: After receiving flak from different quarters for standing a mute spectator while BJD workers resorted to violence in the Odisha capital during the five-hour-long hartal called by the ruling party, the Twin City Commissionerate police have suo motu registered cases against the wrongdoers.
The Commissionerate police have registered separate cases against the perpetrators of violence in four police stations of the Capital city-Khandagiri, Kharvel Nagar, Capital and Chandrasekharpur, police sources said.
The cases registered suo motu by Commissionerate police include the one pertaining to the incident of youths damaging the two-wheeler of a young woman at Delta Square, the sources added.
The police registered the cases after examining CCTV and video footage of the incidents, the sources further added.
Notably, Twin City Police Commissioner had earlier in the day stated that the BJD’s hartal was largely peaceful barring a few stray incidents of violence while adding that action will be taken against the perpetrators if victims register complaints with the police.
