Bhubaneswar: With 13 more persons tested positive for swine flu on Thursday, the total number of positive cases in Odisha rose to 84, official sources said.
The swab samples of 24 persons were sent to the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) today and, of these, 13 tested positive for H1N1 influenza.
So far, the swab samples of 281 patients, who were admitted to various hospitals in the twin cities, were tested at the RMRC. Of them, 84 tested positive for the H1N1 virus.
Notably, four persons have already died due to swine flu in the state.
A woman, identified as Santipriya, of Kotian village in Jagatsinghpur district died of the disease on Wednesday.
No death due to swine flu was reported by the filing of this report today.
The Odisha government has earlier issued guidelines for hospitals to tackle swine flu. The Health and Family Welfare department also issued do’s and don’ts for the general public and increased the awareness drive to prevent the spread of influenza.
