The Additional District Judge Court here sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for killing a youth over business rivalry in 2013.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of them, failing which they will undergo an additional imprisonment of 3 months.

According to information, Anand Panda, Rabi Nair and Mahesh Gop, all hailing from Deogaon, had started scrap business in 2004.

However, dispute ensued between them in 2007 over share in business following which they parted ways.

Anand then started a new business with another person and achieved greater success.

Being angry over Anand, Rabi fired at him near Tarapur Road on June 15, 2013 while he was returning home.

Anand fell down sustaining bullet injuries following which Mahesh hacked him with a knife and crushed his head with stone which led to his death.

Investigating into the incident, police had arrested Rabi, Mahesh, Manoj Gop and Johnson Munda.

Adjudicating the case, the court awarded life imprisonment to Rabi and Mahesh besides acquitting Manoj and Johnson.
