The Twin City Commissionerate police today arrested Rajkishore Tudu, prime accused and alleged mastermind in the fake note printing in Odisha capital, from Bhubaneswar railway station.

According to reports, Rajkishore, hailing from Bangiriposi in Mayurbhanj district, was detained by Nayapalli police early this morning while he was returning from Chennai. He was later arrested.

Sources said, Rajkishore has informed police that a youth namely Phagu had taught him the art of making fake currency notes.

Phagu had also given him Rs 16,500 counterfeit notes with a promise of paying Rs 8,000 for running the racket, Rajkishore said to police.

Police had earlier arrested two persons– Ratnakar Singh and Shagen Tudu– in connection with the fake notes, who had revealed Rajkishore’s name during interrogation.

Two more accused in the case are still absconding.

Notably, Baripada Town police had raided the fake note printing unit at Salia Sahi here on March 16 and seized fake currency papers, color printer and cartridge from the spot.

Earlier, Shagen Tudu, a college student from Baripada, was arrested on March 9 while he was transacting a fake Rs 500 note at a shop in Sunagadia area.

As many as 32 counterfeit notes of Rs 500 denomination were seized from the possession of the 20-year-old boy. Interestingly, all the currencies bored identical series and serial number.

During interrogation, Shagen had told police that he had got the notes from a friend residing in Patia area here. On further interrogation, the accused led police to the den at Salia Sahi where the illegal activity was going on.
