Unidentified miscreants captured a polling booth in Odisha’s Rayagada district today during voting for the second phase of the three-tier panchayat polls in the state.

According to reports, more than 15 persons barged into polling booth no 6 at Radhanga village under Bisam Katak block in the district.

They allegedly thrashed the Presiding Officer and Polling Officer for opposing proxy voting and took the duo outside the booth.

Tension gripped the spot following the incident. However, police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control.

Voting was put on hold at the booth for the day, sources said.
