Odisha capital to host two-day Intl’ Radio Fair from Feb 13

On the occasion of World Radio Day, social organization ‘Outreach’ will host a two-day International Radio Fair on February 13 and 14 in Bhanja Kala Mandap of Odisha Capital.

The event is aimed at sensitizing radio station owners, executives and broadcasters to gender related policies and strategies for radio.

Besides, building radio skills for youth radio production – with focus on girls as producers and encouraging broadcasters to prepare programs for promotion of culture and eradication of social evils are the other stated objectives of the fair.

As per the organisers, Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan and eminent news reader Upendra Pahadsingh have given their consent join the Radio Fair this year among others.

Many radio stations from all corners of India and some stations from abroad will join the fair to celebrate the occasion. Various types of broadcasters including All India Radio, private FMs, community radio and internet radio stations will also participate in the event.

Further, there will be an exhibition of all radio stations on the venue – which would showcase old and new radio sets, old broadcasting equipments, ham radio, radio studio and stalls by radio stations. Separate stalls for old radio sets, radio equipments exhibition, latest innovations and SW listening will also be there. There will be a sand sculpture of radio in the exhibition.

Simultaneously, cultural programs containing popular radio contents would be performed. Radio Choklate produced drama ‘Upahar’ and All India Radio Cuttack produced drama ‘Amritakhyara’ will be staged both the evenings.

Besides, audience can see the visual version of popular radio contents of AIR and other channels. Popular radio artists and celebrities will perform Bharatnatyam, Kathaka, Odishi, Sambalpuri, Bhangda, Manipuri, Bihu and other classical, folk and modern dance performances on stage.
