NTPC official arrested for fraud

Bhubaneswar, July 31:

Commissionerate Police today arrested a senior official of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) for cheating a businessman for Rs 20 lakhs after promising him a good piece of land on the outskirts of the city.

The accused identified as Bidyut Bhusan Jati (54) of Chandbali in Bhadrak district was forwarded to a local court here today.

Acting on a complaint filed by one Dillip Kumar Sahu of the city, police registered a case and arrested Bidyut for failing to provide either the promised land or the money taken from Sahu.

The accused had taken the whole sum of money three years ago by showing forged document of the land to the victim.

Police have slapped charges under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 of IPC against the accused in the case.
