The 110th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna JRD Tata, the visionary and trendsetter behind India’s most admired company, was celebrated by Tata Steel with great fervour across its operating locations in Odisha, including Kalinganagar, Sukinda, Gopalpur, Joda and Bamnipal.
JRD Tata, considered to be a symbol of progressive growth, dedicated his existence in improving the quality of life of people. The ethos of Jeh (as he was lovingly called) shaped the guiding principles at Tata Steel which has touched the lives of millions of people.
On the occasion, at its upcoming steel plant at Kalinganagar, Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) organised an under-10 boys’ football match at Nakadei village played between Mirgichera and Baghuapal coaching centres of TSRDS. Later, a village cleaning programme in association with the youths of the village was organised at Sukarana to mark the day.
In Sukinda, a plantation drive of fruit bearing trees at the mine dump was organised. Similarly, sports provisions were installed in the playgrounds of Shrama Shakti School, Saraswati Sisu Vidya Mandir at Stewart school. A friendly football match was also organized between Stewart School and Saraswati Sishu Bidya Mandir at the Stewart School playground on the occasion.
JRD Tata’s birth anniversary was also celebrated at Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys Plant, Bamnipal.
At Joda, the celebrations started with a Prabhat Pheri by school children in the presence of teachers of Tata Steel UP School, senior Officials and trade union bearers of Tata Steel. An inter-departmental Football Tournament and a quiz programme were organised on the occasion.
The Gopalpur Project team of Tata Steel organized a one-day Free Mega Health Camp, in association with Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) and District Health Department of Ganjam at Saraswati Girls High School, Raghunathpur under Narendrapur panchayat in Chhatrapur block. Eight specialist doctors from Tata steel, TSRDS and private hospitals attended the camp and provided consultation to the patients. More than 560 patients from Raghunathpur and surrounding villages availed health services at the day-long Health Camp where free medicines were also provided along with consultation by specialist doctors from Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatric, Orthopaedic, Skin & VD and eye disciplines
